Justin's Break the Silence is a nonprofit organization through the Dakota Medical Fund.
Our mission is two-fold. First, to help people realize it's "okay to not be okay, but it's not okay to not ask for help". If you are struggling with depression and suicidal thoughts, it's not weird, it's not weak, it's nothing to hide.
"Break your silence" and talk to someone about what's going on.
Second, to "break the silence" surrounding the stigma of discussing mental health and suicide. It should be just as ok to say "my anxiety is really high today" as is it to say "I have a horrible headache".

STOP. LISTEN. TALK.
We want to help encourage people struggling with depression and suicidal thoughts. You can help by taking the time to be there for friends and family. It is so important to STOP. LISTEN. and TALK. Around 80% of the time, people who take their own life show "typical symptoms" ahead of time. You can be there to help save a life!

Thanks for your support - we appreciate it so much. It is our goal to give back to students who are entering the mental health field as well as supporting different mental health speakers and advocates in our community. Thank you!
If you are thinking of suicide or know someone who is, please call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255 or text GO to 741741 to talk with a Crisis Counselor 24/7. If it is an emergency situation, call 911.
