West Fargo Public Schools receives $20,000 from Justin's Break the Silence Fund

Justin's Break the Silence Fund has given West Fargo Public Schools a $20,000 grant to support a student wellness facilitator position at L.E. Berger Elementary School.
According to the press release, Peter Myxter was hired as the student wellness facilitator with the grant dollars. He will coordinate mental health services as well as weork with families to ensure continuity of services, implement treatment plans for designated student clients and provide skills coaching and support to school staff. Additionally, Myxter will work with students, families and school staff to create and foster an understanding of the importance of mental health services, according to the release.
Justin's Break the Silence Fund, hosted by Dakota Medical Foundation, was established in 2016 by Curtis and Lynne Olien following their 17-year-old son Justin's death. According to the release, the fund serve's two purposes:
To educate and raise awareness of options for those struggling with depression and suicidal thoughts
To reduce the stigma and secrecy surrounding the stigma of mental illness, depression and suicide.
